Filling the Void
I started my health journey in 2013 when I suffered from Inflammatory Arthritis and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis impacting the ability to do my job and handle any activities with my hands. It was so hard changing the way I ate, but as the energy and passion returned, it became easier and easier. However, I couldn't let go of everything. I felt stuck in limbo in the career I had and the career I was being called to do. That void was filled nicely with chocolate and caffeine despite making me feel agitated and inflamed. Then, I met a patient at the hospital who gave me specific messages from God and taught me that all challenges in the past and present must be given to God in prayer to be answered. When I followed this advice, I was actually able to clear my issues from the past! Suddenly something changed in my heart. I was filled with something other than void, and my food addictions disappeared instantaneously without effort. I realized that even though the power of the mind can influence negative behavior and resulting health, I couldn't clear it alone. I needed to look to God for the strength to change it. As is stated in Phillippians 4:6-7, "Do not worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.." I"ve learned there is no void to fill with food, alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc when it is filled instead with the love of God. We just need to turn to Him for the help and be open to the answers we receive.
